An Intimate Backyard Wedding in Lofoten
Moments Beneath the Mountains
There’s something special about weddings held in places packed with personal history and Kristiane and Johannes’ intimate backyard wedding in Lofoten was exactly that.
With the dramatic Lofoten mountains rising in the background, they exchanged vows in the backyard of Kristiane’s childhood home. Surrounded by close friends, family, and the raw beauty of Northern Norway, the whole day felt calm, genuine, and completely theirs. It’s proof you don’t need a big venue to have a beautiful celebration especially when you’re getting married somewhere as naturally stunning as Lofoten.
After the ceremony, we drove to Unstad Beach for portraits. The mountains, ocean, and soft Arctic light gave us a setting that felt cinematic yet completely natural. Kristiane and Johannes were relaxed and present no stiff posing, just real moments in an unforgettable landscape as the epic backdrop.
As a wedding videographer, I had to embrace this elopement style shoot where I had to be nimble yet efficient with all my shots. Thankfully the sun was high but was positioned at the right spot. This helped so much creating non-flat and cinematic wedding film.
The next evening, we met again for a laid-back sunset shoot. Summer in Lofoten means long golden evenings, and that one seemed to last forever. With no timeline, they wandered barefoot, laughed, and held each other as the sun slipped behind the peaks.
This wedding wasn’t about spectacle. It was about home, connection, and choosing to celebrate love in a place that already meant so much. Intimate backyard weddings in Norway don’t get more personal than this and when home looks like Lofoten, the setting does all the work for you.
